Amardeep - a couple of things to check:
* What is the data type of [Activity Dt]? You can see this by right clicking on the dimension and selecting "Describe...". If it is a String, then you will need to convert to a Date in Tableau to do the comparison. You can use the DATEPARSE function in Tableau to convert the string to a date.
* Check your Teradata ODBC driver settings for Teradata date formats. Here is an article that describes a similar problem & the resolution in ODBC driver settings. You may need help from your Teradata DBA to find out what the correct date format should be.
Hope either of these might bear fruit.
thanks for your response.
the activity date is a date column. I checked it using describe option.
and I don't see DATEPARSE function in my tableau client. I am using 8.2 version.
the only conversion type from string to date is DATE function under the "type conversion" option in functions.
is there a way I can add custom sql to get the current day and join that with my table ?
what would the sql be like ?
A quick Google search of "Teradata getting current date SQL" finds:
SELECT CURRENT_DATE for the date
SELECT TIMESTAMP for the date & time
You might also investigate the ODBC setttings, since your data type is a Date.
