      Maintenance & Reliability Specialist/Engineer (Data Mining & Analysis)
      This position will be located in Birmingham, AL
      This position will function as part of the Generation Maintenance & Reliability Group within Engineering & Construction Services - Technical Services.  
      This position is responsible for producing Visualizations and Dashboards from Generation Work Management and Equipment Condition Monitoring data to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical power plant systems, components, and processes. 
      The incumbent will be the business product owner for the data integration and visualization tools and process for Southern Company Generation.  A key responsibility for this position is conceive, create, and deploy visualizations to enable the fleet to better use and analyze data from multiple sources to obtain increased value.
      This includes providing day-to-day technical support around Data Visualization, and for providing strategic guidance to the generation fleet in the areas of Asset Management Information Optimization (AMIO).  
      The incumbent will provide field support to address individual plant questions & concerns, and will also play a key role in like-unit comparisons, identifying and communicating best practices, applying lessons learned across the fleet, and ensuring consistency, to improve processes.  The position will also provide key support to Root Cause Analysis Investigations.
      JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
      • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a 2-year or 4-year Technical Degree is preferred
      • A thorough understanding and working knowledge of data integration and visualization techniques is required.
      • Experience with data management techniques to access, integrate, analyze and visualize data from multiple sources is required.  Working experience with Tableau Software, or similar reporting and visualization program, is highly desired.
      • Detailed understanding of plant Maintenance, Engineering, Operations; equipment, systems, and processes in a power plant or other manufacturing industry is preferred.
      • Experience in organizing and managing multiple projects at the same time. Proven ability to plan; ability to discern problems that need immediate attention versus those that allow more time to resolve.
      • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Widely recognized as a key contributor in their expertise area.
      • Support effective Reporting & Data Analysis across all Work Management & Asset Condition Monitoring tools.
      • Work with Generation Plants and Engineering & Construction Services to improve the effective and consistent use of Enterprise Tools and the application of Work Management Processes.
      • Coordinate and facilitate the effective use of data visualizations to drive better Work Management and Equipment Condition Assessments. Provide formal and informal training to end users around data visualization and analysis.
      • Serve as the primary interface between Generation Plants, Engineering & Construction Services, Enterprise Solutions Support, and IT to identify improvements needed in data analysis tools and processes.  
      • Actively participate in internal and industry user groups to stay abreast of latest Visualization tools and techniques.  Test, validate, and implement improved processes for the fleet.
      • Establish ongoing relationships and effectively communicate with all levels of plant and corporate employees and management; Vendors; Peer Groups and Subject Matter Experts.
      • This position can require some travel +/-10% per year. 
      • This will include some overnight travel and will be primarily within the Southern Company Generation fleet.
