I would suggest getting in touch with Tableau support for this.
As per this post - Re: MS SQL Connection on Tableau for Mac, there's some known issues with Windows Auth, so it's probably best to contact support.
We will need to see your logs to know more and it's best if you contacted Tableau support. A few questions for troubleshooting:
a) What is the exact error you are getting when you try to connect to SQL Server from the Mac? Are you able to connect to it just fine from Tableau on Windows?
b) This may be a question for your DB admin - do you know if the SQL Server instance supports Kerberos authentication or only NTLM authentication? Currently Tableau Mac only supports Kerberos authentication for connecting to SQL Server using Windows authentication.
c) Have you tried SQL Server authentication and does that work?
d) Is the SQL Server instance running on a non-standard port (i.e. something other than 1433)?
The SQL Server Mac ODBC driver downloadable from tableausoftware.com/drivers is a 64 bit driver. Tableau Mac is 64 bit and only supports 64 bit drivers.
Issue was SPN were missing. Installed Kerberos Configuration Manager and Fix the SPN.
