    Connection error 127

    Ruben Gorena

      Hello all,

I am trying to connect Tableau to an Oracle database and getting an Error:

"Unable to connect to the server. Check the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database."

I've discarded any trivial issues with the connection name, passwords, access permission, etc. as my colleague next to me was doing it at the same time and found no issues.

When I I get the error and click on "Show Details" I get "Function OCIArrayDescriptorAlloc not found in oci (error 127): drivers may be out of date.”, which seems to point to an issue with drivers or maybe the Oracle clients. But that is also weird as I upgraded Oracle client and SQL developer about 2 months ago and it's been working all fine with other applications.

I resist the idea I may have to re-install it - any clue what may be going wrong?

      Many thanks
