Connecting to Site Catalyst data sources is not currently supported in Tableau Desktop. A full list of Tableau Desktop supported data sources, are available at the following page:
It may be possible to connect to Site Catalyst using the Generic ODBC data connection, in order to create a data extract. While this may be possible to connect to Site Catalyst using the generic ODBC data connection, success often varies, and full compatibility with Tableau features cannot be guaranteed.
For more additional information on the capabilities and limitations of connecting to unsupported data sources via generic ODBC, please see the following Knowledge Base articles:

Customizing and Tuning ODBC Connections
Our best practice solution, when working with unsupported data sources, is to mirror the unsupported data source onto a supported data source (such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.) and then connect to the database using the native data connection.
Additionally, it may also be possible to work around this issue using the Tableau Data Extract API. This API allows you to connect to data that is not currently a supported Tableau Data source and extract data into a Tableau Data Extract (.tde) file. Tableau Desktop can then connect to the data extract file or the data extract file can then be published to Tableau Server for use in authoring views directly in a web browser.
For more information on the Tableau Data Extract API, please see the following section of the Tableau Desktop Product Guide:

Many thanks Jordan for such a clear and timely response. We had a two day meeting with a client and it was great to be able to provide an answer whilst still on site.
