Dates : Tracking Customer management over time

    Amoryn Saayman

      hi

I need to do the following:

We run a customer campaign on a specific date

we no need to compare the usage data for 7 days before the extraction date end 7 days after the extraction date

any ideas as to how i can create a date slider/parameter showing "pre" and "post" campaign usage data if we look at the extraction date as a starting point?

      For example:

campaign extraction date : 15 October

Pre campain data: 8-14 October (data displayed on a daily view)

Pre campain data: 16-23 October (data displayed on a daily view)

          Hi Amoryn,

Hows your data looks like? source and data format.

Is it possible to attach a packaged workbook with sample data?

          thanks

The extraction date will be used in order to determine usage data for 2 days prior and 2 days after the campaign was run

            Does this make sense?

Thanks for the additional info, however your data format looks difficult to achieve the goal.

Reason: Since the usage dates are plotted on the column  Tableau will interpret them as measures and you cannot do +/- 7 days slider  on measure names.

If you want to put the usage date as a slider then it should be valid date field (in this case). I can suggest you to re-shape your data to the below data format. (There are few methods to reshape your data depends on your data source)

I am able to create the following viz from my proposed data format.(please find the attached workbook)
