Your best bet is to post a sample packaged workbook (.twbx) with data that is similar to yours--then, someone can help you arrive at whatever solution you are looking for.
hey matt i dont have any sample twbx file
any idea for the scenario which i mentioned above ?
I am not sure how to help without a workbook. You can mock one up pretty quickly using the sample data provided by Tableau. Perhaps you could explain your "scenario" a bit better--include screenshots to enhance your description of the problem, if needed.
is there a way to get year to date calculation based on Fiscal year ,fiscal month String columns ?
You can achieve this after converting the String Year and String Month to a Date Field using a calculation.
I assume you got the year field and month field (string) under dimensions as shown below
Step1 : Create a calculated filed to concatenate Year and Month Dimension to get a valid date field
Calculation : DateConversion=Date('01/'+Str([Month])+'/'+Str([Year]))
// If you have days field then put it instead of '01' like Date(Str([Days])+'/'+Str([Month])+'/'+Str([Year]))
Now you can see a new field is created under dimensions in date format.
Right click on the newly created "Datecoversion" field and set the Fiscal year start then use it for the YTD calculation.
Hope this will help you.
Follow the idumon procedures, its worked.

thanks every one for your reply
indumon issue is tableau doesn't give option to select fiscal date right i mean say like in my company fiscal year starts like may 27 so how to choose the date after selecting fiscal year start
hmm, that's a complex fiscal year
Still you can have YTD using a calculated field, after converting the string fields to date.
example: hard coded one
if [DateConversion]>='27-may-2013' and [DateConversion]<='26-may-2012' then [Sales] end
thanks for reply.
I have a fiscal year parameter with 2012,2013,2014 and i want to link this parameter to "year to date" worksheet.
so when user selects a year i want to see year to date value as per selection.
As per my requirement i need to add year to date with other dashboards so i want a common filter so that user dont need to select again for year to date.
i tried to show parameter in year to date worksheet but it is not impacting it
Perhaps the attached will help?
Created a parameter as you had suggested. Used the calculation suggested by Indumon.
Basically made Indumon's calculation dynamic based on the FY selection parameter... should help I think.
