Is it possible for Tableau to snapshot data, or should I build a snapshot table and bring that into Tableau?

For example, I have a table which has membership info.  Per day it tells me basically the rate at which people are signing up.  For example:

      DateTypeCount
      10/1New10
      10/1Cancel3
      10/1Trial1
      10/2New10
      10/2Cancel1
      10/2Trial1
      10/3New25
      10/3Cancel4
      10/3Trial2
      10/4New15
      10/4Cancel1

However, if I wanted to know a snapshot of total membership types on 10/4, I'd want to see New = 60, Cancel = 9, and Trial = 4.  So, I tried it, but I don't see/know of a way to have Tableau snapshot it.    I know I can build a table that snapshots membership per day (e.g. 10/3: New=45, Cancel=8, Trial=4; 10/4: New=60, Cancel=9, Trial=4),  and I can plot that, but was wondering if there were another way.
