Calculating Percentiles for use as a Dimension

    Stephen Boulware

      Hey Tableau Community,

I have spent hours pouring through different threads, and have not been able to find an answer to my question. I am trying to calculate quartiles (based on a single measure) for use as a dimension. To elaborate, I would like to group projects within the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quartiles (based on that single measure) and display the median attributes of each. It is an analysis I was doing in Excel, and if I can't reproduce in Tableau, I fear I will I need to go back to boring Excel. Below should give you an idea of what I am trying to reproduce.

      Measure1st Quartile2nd Quartile3rd Quartile4th QuartileOverall
      # of Employees1.522.7543
      # of Regions33.5675
      XYZ25897
      ABC.5.6.8.9.75

I have figured out how to calculate Percentiles and use them as a measure, but I have failed miserably in using them as a dimension.

      Thanks!
