Hi! We have a client that uploads TWBX files onto their Sharepoint
site. Firefox and Chrome open them up just fine in the Tableau Reader;
however, in IE 10, it converts it to a Zip file, and then they have to download
it and open it up as such.
The client wants IE10 to open the TWBX files like it does in the other
I followed this article: http://community.tableau.com/thread/111179?start=0&tstart=0 and
IE still doesn't open the files up like in the other browsers.
I then found this article: http://community.tableau.com/thread/122734?start=0&tstart=0 that
states that Sharepoint needs to have the file added to it's MIME types (which
has to be done by the Sharepoint admins).
Anyone else been able to solve this issue out there? Any ideas?
A .twbx is really just a .zip file with a different extension that Tableau recognizes. Unless you set the MIME type (as mentioned in the separate article), the web server may inspect the file contents and make the correct assumption that it's just a .zip.
