Did you have a look at the Knowledge Base article: Resolving Microsoft Jet Error 'Unknown' | Tableau Software
Tableau is connecting to the Excel data through a Microsoft Jet Database Engine - it can be corrupted or out-of-date, however I am not sure if this is the solution as you can run the calculation on some of the data.
Can you please check and let us know?
i HAVE ALREADY READ THIS .. but this doesn't help either
I think there is a character limit in of 1024, so you're calc is getting truncated and therefore broken.
So the character limit of 1024 is for the URL field from Excel extract which am using in the calculated field or the Calculated field itself
Good question. I'm only guessing, but I believe it is the calculated field itself.
Edit: After experimenting it looks as if data extracts (Tableau's data engine) does not truncate the calculated field:
(That's a 1200 character string.)
Whereas the MS Jet Engine does truncate the string:
It truncates it to 249, but with quotes and line breaks it probably is 256. So your calc should work if you extract your data first.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much .. this resolved my problem
