# Median by a group, median total

I have a table in Tableau that breaks out medians for each category for several date ranges:

CategoryDate 1Date 2
Category 1108
Category 2129
Category 386

*the values in the table are medians for the category in that date range

I also have another table in Tableau that provides the median across all the categories for each date range:

Date 1Date 2
1110

I would like to combine these tables into one so that it looks like:

CategoryDate 1Date 2
Category 1108
Category 2129
Category 386
All Categories1110

A table calculation doesn't seem to work in this instance.  The median for all categories should be across the entire data, not just a median of the medians (e.g. median of the medians for Date #1 would be 10 rather than the 11 that it I want).

Any idea how to do this?

My underlying data looks like:

CategoryDateValue
119
1111
216
218
2212

Does turning on grand totals work for you? There are others here who much better understand grand totals, but I believe in  this case it would be the equivalent of total(median([value]))

That did it!  Perfect.  Thanks for the help!
