what is setting quarter via default properties ?
got it jason thanks
Ok, but how to do this for dynamic values - the list of values are changing from extract to extract, e.g. rolling quarters - dropping oldest quarter, adding latest.
Can you sort the list depending on another dimension value such as:
0 Q4 FY2013
1 Q3 FY2013
2 Q2 FY2013
3 Q1 FY2013
4 Q4 FY2012
5 Q3 FY2012
6 Q2 FY2012
7 Q1 FY2012
So right now filter list shows up as
I'm trying to do the same thing (but with days instead of quarters), and as of today I don't think there's a way to accomplish this. Hopefully Tableau 8.1...? We should get a feel for the feature set next week at the conference...
There is another way to get this done if the Quarter Filter field is a string data type field
- Create a new calculated dimension with formula "str(right([Quarter FIlter],4)) + " " +str(left([Quarter FIlter],2))"
- Use this new field in the Column / Row section, next to the "Quarter FIlter" field.
- Perform sort on the new field as required (ascending values)
- On the same field, choose option "Show Header" to remove it from the display.
