    Configuring Custom HTTP Error Pages?

    Richard King

      Hi,

Just a query for neatness sake really!  We have a Tableau 8 setup with 2 gateway servers (active/warm-standby) and 2 worker servers.  As part of infrastructure testing I noticed that if you stop the Tableau service on one of the worker servers then, if users happened to be connected to that one, for 5 minutes you'll get "HTTP 500" errors whilst the application sorts itself out in the background.

To make things as smooth as possible for end users I want to put up a custom HTTP 500 error page saying something along the lines of "service is currently impacted please wait 10 minutes and try again.  If the problem persists contact support...".

I assumed that as the implementation uses Apache in the background a quick tweak to httpd.conf to point to a custom page would do the trick but it doesn't seem to be the case.  Has any got any suggestions on if this is possible and how to do it?

      Cheers,

      Rich
