    Grand Totals of Ranking Questions

    Anuja S Krishnan

I am trying to create a cross tab of ranking questions and having problems adding the "grand total" row.

The raw data looks something like this table below. These are two questions rated on a 5pt scale by 7 people.

      Person

      Question1

      Question2

      1

      1

      4

      2

      2

      5

      3

      3

      4

      5

      3

      5

      4

      2

      6

      2

      7

      3

      5

I want my cross tab summary to look like this below:

      Null

      1

      2

      3

      4

      5

      Question1

      0

      1

      2

      2

      1

      1

      Question2

      2

      0

      1

      1

      1

      2

      Grand Total213323

I was able to create this table and was even able to add a grand total column to the far right (after the "4" column). However, I am unable to add the "Grand Total" row totaling up each column. What I ultimately need to do is calculate the % of each each cell on its column total.

      Thanks

      Anu

This may be a late reply. But you may be able to use this solution.

You will have to normalize Data before you start off. By Normalizing I mean having the data in the following fashion

          Person   Question    Score

          1             1               1

          1             2               4

          and so on.

Normalization can be done easily in excel.

Once you import this data the rest is easy (You will have to create a bin for the Ranks)
