I am having the same problem, also triggered by the upgrade to v8.0.
I understand after upgrading to Tableau Server 8.0, users cannot sign into Tableau Server using tabcmd. Tableau 8 added a certificate validation check when using tabcmd. If Tableau Server is using a self-signed certificate or a certificate not issued by the public certificates authorities, tabcmd login will fail with "certificate verify failed" error. To resolve this issue, please add the "--no-certcheck" global option to the tabcmd command (without the quotes).
Ben, thank you for suppling the solution to this issue. Too many times people ask questions here, have to go to support, and then don't follow up which is VERY annoying.
Agreed. Thanks, Ben.
Thanks for posting the answer too, Ben - it really helped me out and I appreciate it.
This helped when I login and perform tasks with tabcmd.
But when I want to logout I get an error message:
*** The server only accepts HTTPS connections. Please check the server URL.
And this sets the ERRORLEVEL in DOS to 1. So my wrapperscript is always reporting an error. using --no-certcheck to the logout command doesn't help here. Can you please let me know how to get around this problem?
