You must state a question in order to get an answer.
Yeah, a SPECIFIC question would be helpful. Oh, and a subject line to match

Hi Team, I have been working for mainframe skill from last 3 years , now getting chance to cross trained with Tableau skill...so will it be good for my carrier ...plsss assist me should i go with this tool ...as m not aware about the future of Tableau tool....
Uhm, erm...??? Are you going to be working with Tableau Server? Or just Tableau Desktop? Both?
The future of the tool
It's growing -- and hasn't stopped for several years. If you have the opportunity to get experience with it then do it! I'm a firm believer in education so crack open the manuals and read them. For allowing end users fantastic charts of their information, with zero-to-minimal IT "help", that blow Excel outta the water, this is it -- and I'm an Excel VBA developer, I can do craaaaazy stuff with Excel!
However, the best way to learn the tools is to use them. Nothing annoys me more than people who are book-smart and application-dumb, meaning, they can read and understand the manuals and claim to "know" the application but if you put them in front of it and ask for work then sit there like a bump on a log. I've seen this behavior on too many resumes. You're not an "expert" or "skilled" unless you've actually used the tool for a few months beyond the classroom.
If someone at your work is going to cross-train you (on what?) then do it. Jobs need back-ups, heck, the 'other guy' might win the lottery and suddenly quit, so you come to the rescue Knowing only one skill makes it hard to find work so it's your financial back-up, too
Really, unless you get specific/detailed (and please do so in a new topic), this is all there is to it.
Message was edited by: Toby Erkson Spotfire looks very similar to Tableau but isn't as good when it comes to maps and comes with too much over-head...which would be Tibco. That company did not impress me in the slightest (the last company I worked for was using Tibco and I swear we were their beta team, sucky software).
