# More than 2 measures?

Is it possible to have more than two measures on the same line chart (i.e., dual-axis will address two measures, but I'm trying to include three)?

Jeffrey,

Thanks for posting.  I have two comments to make.

First, when you post your workbook, it needs to be packaged as a .twbx.  I was unable to open it because I did not have access to the data source.

Second, If you use Measure Names/Measure Values, you can put as many measures as you want on a chart.  However, to my knowledge, you are only allowed two axes to display.  Please refer to the uploaded file.  If you have an issue with scaling between measures, you can divide measures by standard values, such as 1000.

If you absolutely need, you can pivot your data set so that the "Measure Names" is an actual dimension in your data set.  This would allow you more flexibility in your visualizations, albeit at the cost of significant time in the ETL process.

Let me know if this was helpful.

Thanks for the kind feedback (for a first timer)...especially regarding twbx.  I'll give this a shot and let you know if it works.

How can I have one measure represented by line chart and another measure by bar chart on the same axis? I can do different chart types in different axis but not same one?

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Cristina

C Palo,

I have a blog post explaining exactly that .  Check it out

In Tableau 8.0 – I can’t seem to find the Step 3, second bullet!

In the Marks Card, click the triangle in the upper-right corner ->
Select "Multiple Mark Types"

I don’t want it in a different axis (I have already another measure
there!)

I want a bar chart for SALES (left Y axis) – a line chart with price
(right Y axis) – (I have been able to do it to this point
J) and want
to add a line chart to left Y axis with average Sales –

Is that possible??

Thanks much!

Cristina,

This is a more interesting example then.  You will need to create a dual-axis graph with 2 measures, Sales and Measure Values.  Then, drag Measure Names to the color shelf.  Then, drag Measure Names to the filter shelf and filter to show only Avg Sales and Price.  You may have to make calculated fields for Avg Sales and  Price.  Since you can only have 2 axes, your lines will have to share an axis.

Does this help?
