    Sub Select in Tableau

    Craig Willis

      Hi,

Is there a way to do a sub select or equivalent in Tableau.  I have data blended from 2 tables in a PostgreSQL data source.  Its a 1 to many relationship with approximately 4 unique right hand records for every left hand record.  I need to filter out any left hand record that has ANY right hand record with a certain criteria.  Brief example below.

      INT_ID
      REF_ID
      REF_TYPE
      A1111B2222A
      A1111B2223B
      A1111B2224B
      A1112B2225B
      A1112B2226B
      A1113B2227A

I need to be able to filter out all records associated with A1111 because in one instance had a REF_TYPE of A.  It would be easy to do this for a record like A1113 as it is a 1 to 1.  In SQL I would use a sub select, but I can't come up with a workable solution in Tableau.  I can't attach a workbook as its almost entirely PHI.  I can probably create a mock up if that would help though.

      Thank you for any advice.
