# Dropdowns - Impact the report

I want to build 3 dropdowns in a report that will impact values in a report.

The three dropdowns A,B,C will have 2 options Yes,No

On changing the yes/no filters the report data must be impacted.

How can I develop such dropdowns that compare with data in report.

Thanks

Hi Gallop,

Can you just use compact quick filters? One for the dimension with A, B, C and one with the field with Yes and No?

I was looking to build 3 dropdowns that have Yes/No values since there would be more options that will impact the report data.

Or probably three checkboxes that can be ticked or unticked. Please let me know if you have a sample checkbox example that on change will impact the report data. Also a combination of three dropdowns that depending on the combination will change the data in the report.

Thanks

Gallop, can you be more explicit. How will the dropdowns affect the data? What you are asking is eminently doable in a number of ways, probably through an case or if statement.

Have you seen this help page: http://onlinehelp.tableausoftware.com/current/pro/online/en-us/functions_functions_logical.html

SUM([QryT)]) *

((IF [MetricsA] THEN [rageCalc] ELSE [rageCalcT] END)) *

((IF [MetricsB] THEN  [TRCalcT) ELSE [TRCalcT] END)) *

((IF [MetricsC] THEN [CPCCalcTL] ELSE [CalcT] END))

This is the formula that has to be computed. I have defined 3 boolean parameters with Yes,No options.

MetricsA,MetricsB,MetricsB

So if MetricsA = Yes then I want ragecalc else ragecalcT and so on

Kindly help with this kind of formulae and how to use the parameter so that the values in entire report change

Thanks

What's not working? Presuming the [ragecalc] and others are aggregates, this formula is fine (except for the Metrics B part where the then/else result is the same). You need to tell us what isn't working.

The quickest way to do this would be to post a tbwx and the expected result.

Metrics: Date and chosen metrics (control)[A/B/C] and Calculated R [R = QryT * A (ctrl if chosen else test) * B (ctrl if chosen else test) * C (ctrl if chosen else test)]

I am trying to develop a report with  3 dropdowns with Yes and No values - user selectable

 A Yes B Yes C No

In the above scenario....the report is to be populated in order with Date,A,B(since A and B are selected as yes) ,Calculated R That is computed by a formula...that is (Queries * A (ctrl if chosen or test) * B (ctrl if chosen else test) * C (ctrl if chosen else test)])

So the calculated filed for Calculated R that has to be linked to the dropdown that I have written is

SUM([QryT)]) *

((IF [A] THEN [ctrl] ELSE [test] END)) *

((IF [B] THEN  [ctrl) ELSE [test] END)) *

((IF [C] THEN [ctrl] ELSE [test] END))

A,B and C parameters have been created. Please help develop such a scenario. I am sorry the workbook is not very clear to export.

No workbook

Hi Alex,

Have been able to build a sample packaged workbook.

I want the expected revenue to be calculated using the formula.

Also based on the dropdown the columns values have to change,

Thanks
