How do I sort data by the results of a Table Calculation?

    Renelle Risley

This should be easy, but I cannot figure it out.  I want to sort my data by the results of the table calc '% Difference'.  However, I cannot figure out how to do this.  Help!  Thanks.

One quick way to do it is to:

          1. create a duplicate of your calculation
          2. convert it to discrete
          3. put it in front of you other dimensions, e.g. first pill on row shelf
          4. Tableau will automatically sort the list based on that field
          5. Hide that field by right-clicking on it and un-ticking 'Show Header'

See attached workbook for an example. The first sheet is just a silly demo to prove that the list will be sorted dynamically, even if data changes. Just move the parameter slider to select what letter of the product name to sort on and see for yourself.
