    Data Formatting Help

    Andy Geer

So I used Tableau for the trial period about a year ago, and I'm trying another trial period again to see if it will do what it has to do.

I work at a place where each visitor hits quite a few places in their journey, and we monitor the time it takes between these places they hit. So the questions that are usually asked are:

      1. What was volume of visitors per day, week, month, quarter, year?

      2. What was the average, 90th percentile, median duration of time for interval A? Interval B? Interval C? The entire visit duration?

      3. How many were in location A? B? C?

      4. How many were seen on this day of the week?

      5. A couple other questions regarding volumes grouped on one or two characteristics that each visitor would have.

My question is how to go about formatting this data in Excel. I'm thinking this is how I would do it, can you let me know if it'll work.

Also, would it be easier if I just accessed the database directly, and worked from there, instead of an extract?

      FailB

Will this allow me to answer the sort of questions above?
