Has anyone had to deal with a data pull from Teradata where a date field that is a number is joined to another date field that is a varchar and you're trying to use this in Tableau? Solutions? Thanks!

This is what the date looks like in its original format

      2012090003

This is how Tableau translates it when I give it a Date format customized to match the layout

      5510787

This is what it should be 09/03/2012

I am not responsible for loading the data into Teradata so can't do anything on that end just trying to use the data for dates in Tableau to generate data vizs. Thanks for help. This is extremely frustrating. I've tried a number of things and think I may have to reload all the data into Tableau as it may be beyond fixing.
