Don't hide a hierarchy field when extracting data

I'm creating a packaged workbook in Tableau 7.0 using server-based Tableau data sources.  To do so, I must first extract each extract locally and then export the packaged workbook.  To increase the performance of the packaged workbook and decrease the file size, I'm hiding unused fields prior to creating each extract.

One issue I've seemed to find is that if a view includes a hierarchy, I must first expand the hierarchy to include any desired expansion fields in the extract.  Otherwise, the view doesn't work as expected.  I would've thought that if a hierarchy is used in a view, all corresponding fields within the hierarchy would be automatically considered used fields, thus not be excluded by default.

      Have others experienced this functionality?
