Hi Harish,
Which version of Tableau 7.0 are you using? I would recommend upgrading to the most recent version if you are not already on it. http://kb.tableausoftware.com/articles/knowledgebase/upgrading-tableau-desktop
If it does not resolve the issue, I would recommend sending the following information to our support team (support@tableausoftware.com):
1. If the error occurs only on a certain workbook, send the packaged workbook.

2. Date and time of the issue
3. Log files (see http://www.tableausoftware.com/support/knowledge-base/sending-tableau-desktop-log-files for instructions on bundling and sending the log files)-Tracy

harish.nair Sep 11, 2012 1:53 PM (in response to Tracy Rodgers)Hi Tracy -
Thanks for the quick response. I have been using Tableau 7.0.0 all this while - the issue is not workbook specific, it occurs if I'm opening an existing or trying to open a new workbook.
I read in another forums to try uninstalling and reinstalling the application to resolve the error - things got worse when I did that.
The newly downloaded & installed application will not accept my registered license key (I think I upgraded to a newer version of Tableau). It kept giving me the error that you can see in the attachment.
I reverted back to the older version of Tableau and the issue still persists.
Also attaching the log files for the last few days...
I have reached out to Tableau Support - but in the meantime, if you can provide me any other instructions that will be great. I feel paralyzed without Tableau.
LAST UPDATE: I was able to restore my windows back to what it was today morning (didn't have any earlier restore date, dammit) - so we are back to square one - Tableau keeps crashing on me..
Thanks!

Paul Brandhagen Nov 16, 2012 9:26 PM (in response to Paul Brandhagen)FYI... I found that some of my field names had changed when I refreshed my extract... and by fixing the problems with the old, missing fields... my error went away. Next time I will check all my worksheets more carefully to see if any of them are impacted by changing field names
