You can do this by formatting, 2 options:
* right-click on your date field in dimension window
--> Field Properties --> Date Format... --> Custom --> type in: yyyymmdd
now bring in the exact date again and it should be formatted that way
* other option if you already have in view, and only want to format in that one view:
--> right-click on your date in the header or pane of your viz
--> Format --> Dates --> Custom --> type in: yyyymmdd
Hope this helps

I use this. DATEPARSE not working from my end.
STR(YEAR([Received Date]))+STR(MONTH([Received Date]))+STR(DAY([Received Date]))
I had issue with format in my DB - it was mm/dd/yyyy, but I needed dd/mm/yyyy
You can try something like this, (DateOld - String here):
DATE(RIGHT(LEFT([DateOld], 5),2) +'/'+ LEFT([DateOld], 2) +'/'+ RIGHT([DateOld],4))
I am hitting a similar problem. When loading in demo data from Excel it is in MM/DD/YYYY but seemingly my version of Tableau and OS has DD/MM/YYYY. Is this the most efficient way to change this, or is there a way in Tableau to set the date format before loading the data in that will overwrite the OS and default settings ?
