I don't know of any way to use an Action Filter to do this, maybe someone who knows more about mapping than me like Shawn Wallwork could chime in. I do know of a method in conjunction with Tableau Server, where you can set up a custom URL that will point to the desired destination view on Tableau Server, then set up a URL Action in the dashboard. I set this up in the following Tableau Public workbook:
I am using Tableau Desktop. Is itpossible to do something similar with Tableau Desktop?
Also, in this method, one needs to click twice, once on the state and then subsequently on the URL.
Can we achieve the action with a single click?
So, if I have 3 worksheets, can I
- In the initial condition of the dashboard, show worksheet 1
- On clikcing on some part of worksheet 1, make the dashboard display worsksheet 2 (no worksheet 1 at all)?
How does one do this?
In reality, I do want to be able to move from one dashboard to another
- Dashboard 1 is comprised of 3 worksheets and
- Dashboard 2 is comprised of 3 other worksheets
Is this what you're trying to do?
I created an action (Dashboard --> Actions) and specified it will filter dash 2 based on my selection in dash 1.
Wow Tim! That is very cool. Obviously I didn't realize you could do that.
I might have misunderstood the goal. The workbook that Tim posted is using filter actions to go to one dashboard to another (that changes appearance based on the chosen state), Thalanayar's original post was to have one dashboard go to one of multiple dashboards. Thalanayar, does Tim's workbook meet your needs?
This does give me hope that I should be able to achieve my goals.
As Jonathan mentions, it will be good if I am able to navigate to one of multiple dashboards.
