# Can I do a percentage of total based on two or more columns of data?

I have four columns of data, I want to get a percent of total for the total of 2 of the columns and then a percent to total on one of the columns. Is this possible?

Philip:

Yep, it can be done. Post what you've got and one of us will show you how.

What do you want me to post? I posted a screen shot...I want a percent to total of the (green column + yellow column) and then I'd like a percent to total of the (green column + yellow column + red column)

Philip, post the workbook the screen shot was taken from, with just that one page (or the whole thing). If the data is sensitive, dummy up the numbers. Make sure it's a packaged workbook. Meantime, what you're going to probably end up doing is duplicate the data source which will serve as your source for 'total'. Then in a calculated field you would do what you did in your last post:

(sum(green column) + sum(yellow column))/sum(duplicate data source.???)

Without the row or column shelves showing in your screen shot it's difficult to see exactly what you're doing, what the field names are, etc.

Here is the packaged workbook...I want green + yellow percent to total and percetn total green+yellow+red. I'd like the percent to totals to show up on the same row if possible.

Hi Phil,

I have reattached your workbook with instructions on getting what I think the desired view is. Hope this helps!

Thanks Tracy! That worked perfectly....

Very nice Tracy! I got suck on the layout of the data (i.e. no measures). You opened my eyes, thanks.
