A calculated field will need to be created to add the two values up. It would look similar to the following:
total(sum([cumulative data])) + total(sum([secondary data source].[incremental data]))

Thanks for the reply, but I have one more problem, with the above formula,for the cumulative data i need to store
the value in a variable and I am not able to do so i.e storing the data for a particular date in a variable
You can use the results of one calculated field in another calculated field. That's the closest Tableau comes to having variables in the traditional sense of the word. If you need to perform some sort of iterative function, the only thing that does anything like that in Tableau is the PREVIOUS_VALUE() function.
