Sum measures from one data set based on values from a second data set?

I have two data sets that share a common linked field. One set is a reference table that aggregates the linked field into groups. The other set contains values associated with the linked field. Example:

      Set 1

      CustomerBuying Group
      ABig
      BSmall
      CBig
      DSmall

      Set 2

      CustomerSales
      A$1
      B$2
      C$5
      D$7

In this example the linked field is "Customer". I would like to sum the sales from set 2 based on the Buying Group in Set 1. I can get the Buying Group to display, but the analysis ->totals functions do not work. Any help is appreciated.

          A couple of questions:

          - are these tables in the same data source?

          - can a Customer be a part of more than one Buying Group?

          - can you please provide what you expect for a result from this example data?

If they are tables in the same data source, and each Customer is only in a single Buying Group, then you can use the Multiple Tables option when you create or edit your connection.

Otherwise you will need to use a data blend and calculated fields.

With that information, an answer can be provided.
