1. Re: It would be nice if community members could revive archived posts
Joshua Kitz Feb 24, 2012 6:53 AM (in response to Matt Shoemaker)I concur. This would be very helpful. I have several threads from this summer which I would like to reply too. The main reason is that I have now found a better solution for the problem under discussion.
I'm sure people will still find these threads, and not being able to update them with improvements is . . . just bad.

You guys can't reply there?? Huh, I think that may be a mistake of permissions or something. This is not intentional.

In fact this thread relates to Tableau 4, which is why it's archived. Threads relating to old versions of Tableau are archived. I'm not sure that's the right functionality-- we may change it. Any other thoughts pro or con on that are welcome here.

Well, you could argue that that thread is also relevant in the time of Tableau 6, or even that it's still relevant (or could be updated in relation to new Tableau 7 functionality).
Then there's the aspect of this "versioning" being invisible, in addition to a judgement call. The version isn't displayed anywhere (that I can see) and so locking it does nothing to tell people that "this thread is outdated".
