To create a packaged workbook compatible with Tableau Reader, create a Tableau Data Extract and re-save.
This sucks the data out and bundles it with the workbook, so that Tableau Reader users can open it. Tableau Reader cannot make connections to remote databases, and so is not compatible with database-level security.
Thanks for prompt answer. That leads me to ask how can i create tableau data extract from already created tableau packaged workbook from oracle database. When i try to do that
My steps are:
# Right Click on Data Connection
# Click on "Extract Data"
It starts to extract data and puts its instance somewhere in Documents and Settings/Local/UserFolder/../Tmp folder. How am i going to retrieve that extract file
It is not helping me ..what am i doing wrong here?
Also i believe we want to have .tde file and .twbx file in the same folder to open via tableau Reader. Correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks in advance
If you save it as a twbx again, it will include the tde file.
Thanks Logan for your response.
I had the same issue as Sharad because I didn't re-save as twbx after the extract was created. This solution worked after I did that.
What about the Reader connect to an Excel file?! Is it possible?!
