Year over Year (YoY) Comparison

Good day to all:

New to Tableau... I have created a table using records for 2 fiscal years... Let's assume I have 2010 and 2011 data... I would like to create a Table that shows \$\$\$ revenue for January '10 and January '11, Do a difference January '11-January '10  in \$\$\$ and the same difference expressed in % +/- using '10 as the reference.... For instance:

- Jan '10= 100

- Jan '11= 110

- Jan 11-Jan 10 = 10

- Jan 11-jan 10=10%

Could you please direct me as to how this is done keeping in mind that the only data I have is Jan '10 and Jan '11 revenue \$\$\$. Do I need to create 2 additional calculated fields? Any help is greatly appreciated.

M.

Look into table calculations (difference and percentage difference).  It's hard without seeing your data, but assuming you have the Year/Month in the columns and are summarizing \$, you just need to do table calculations on the dollars field.  It's worth noting that you may need to change how the table calculations are viewed (down vs across).
