Rich, We have just installed SharePoint 2010 and were looking at some BI tools. Have you been able to get this to work? I didn't see any comments posted and was a little nervous about possibly selecting Tableau as our BI choice. I also see that it needs Microsoft PowerPivot to work as well. Any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Any update on this? I'd LOVE to embed directly into my SharePoint. Would make users much more interested in developing in Tableau.
We have been able to use the native SharePoint "pageviewer" webpart to in SharePoint 2010 using Active Directory authentication.
You have to be careful to set your dashboard page size and the webpart to be the same size - we use Letter Portrait as a standard.
We could not get the "Share/Embed" function to work in a regular SharePoint page.
There are two issues we are working through with the webpart/link implementation:
- We need to get this all running on SSL for Extranet consumption - SharePoint is running on IIS using SSL (port 443) and the documentation for tableau server 5.0 states "Note: Tableau Server only supports port 443 as the secure port. It cannot run on a machine where any other application is using port 443."
- We are also having to authenticate against Active Directory twice, once for SharePoint and once for Tableau Server. We are using Active Directory authentication for Tableau Server.
@Rich Kretschmer or anyone else -- how did you get it to work on MOSS 2007?
I want to show a tableu dashboard thru share point 2007. Thanks!
Kim, have you followed the instructions in the readme file? Are you getting an error when using it? If so, what?
Try creating a custom content type for your users with 'Page Viewer' as the parent. It may not be actual integration but it will feel like it to your SharePoint users. Also, look forward to an article I'm going to post about what we did to fully integrate Tableau and SharePoint using Business Connectivity Services in 2010.
Did you ever write this article? There's limited information available about Tableau/Sharepoint integration, and I'm interested in seeing how others have successfully achieved this.
I got the Tableau webpart installed on SharePoint 2010 but it doesn't give me the option to configure it like it does in 2007. Any Ideas what I might have missed?
I was able to add a page viewer webpart and it displays the content from Tableau in SharePoint 2010 but that is not a full integration.... unless I am reading this wrong.
Where'd you get the Tableau webpart?
