ExpertiseVBA developer in Microsoft Excel and Access. Decent skill set with MS DOS/cmd and VBScript scripts. webFOCUS back-up admin. Jack-of-all-trades in general.
BiographyI've been involved with BI (Business Intelligence) since 1995.
My first job out of university was a COBOL survey and report developer. After that I taught myself how to use various tools including Cognos (versions 4-7), DOS scripting, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications in Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint), Business Objects, and an Oracle BI tool that really sucked. After years of shadow IT contracting and automated data gathering / report generation I came to know Tableau Desktop v.5 and taught myself to use it.
I've since become a Tableau Server administrator and much less of a Desktop author. I'm still loving the Tableau paradigm of simple, fast, and empowering the end user to get the reports they want, when they need them, and without an IT bottle-neck!
