Close - ExpertiseI built most of the metrics and visual analytics currently in use by the client. I’ve been with the client since the organization’s beginning and taken them from using static spreadsheets to employing near-time data visualizations fed by dynamic databases.
Broad experience—I’ve spent 24 years supporting DoD programs and applying operations research techniques to everything from decision support to program management to software testing to the deployment of mobile communications networks. I understand the ins and outs of military support.
The right education—Master of Science degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Operations Research—a DoD premiere university. Furthermore I also completed a broadening Master of Liberal Arts degree at Texas Christian University and a year of international studies in Air Command and Staff College. These programs have given me great depth of knowledge and taught me to be a life-long learner.
Great instructor—from teaching math in college to teaching my colleagues data visualization techniques to teaching in the local community, my students love me and ask for more.
Sterling reputation—after 7 ½ years, I’m one of the few contractors the known and trusted by the entire leadership. Consequently I’m welcomed in every office and managers give heed to my suggestions.
Can-do, humble attitude—I welcome challenges as opportunities to work with others, leverage their talents, and together resolve the issues and solve the problems. I believe the best use for knowledge is sharing it with those who have a need to need to know and enabling them to make a difference for the client. It’s amazing how much can get done when no one cares who gets the credit.
- BiographyI grew up in Dayton, OH and graduated from Miamisburg Senior High School. After earning a BS in mathematics and computer science, I worked for Ultrasystems Space and Defense in Sierra Vista, AZ for a year and then moved back to the Washington, DC area where I worked for TRW in Fairfax, VA and then for Mitre of McLean, VA. I finally joined the Air Force where I served as a Computer-Communications officer, an Operations Research Analyst, and Program Manager during my 20 year career. During those years I lived in various locations: Fort Worth, TX; Dayton, OH (again); Washington DC metro area (again and again), Belleville, IL (near St Louis, MO) and San Antonio, TX. Along the way I earned two Master Degrees--one in Liberal Arts (MLA) from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX and one in Operations Research (MS) from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, OH. Retiring in the DC area, I was hired by a small company called Beta Analytics, which was brought out by Analex which was brought out by QinetiQ North America who sold my division to ManTech international who lost my contract to Gemini Industries and here I am. All that tells you where I've been, but little about who I am. Below are some statements of what I believe.
1. I never met a person I didn't like (or at least try to like).
2. I truly love helping people solve problems using math and computers.
3. The most important thing I do every day is pray for everything and everyone in my life.
4. I can think of no greater act than to die trying to save another person's life, especially a family member or a friend.
5. When things are at their worse, and they rarely are, I make it a point to assess the situation in the light of eternity and to project a positive outlook to everyone around me.
6. I believe every problem has a solution and often more than one good solution so I always keep an open mind.
7. I believe a sharp, clear mind goes hand in hand with a healthy body and I strive to keep myself healthy in every way.
8. I believe I truly own and/or control only a few things in my life, one of which is my integrity. I guard it carefully and everything else in my life seems to fall in line.
9. I sincerely believe that the path to greatness demands that I become the servant of everyone around me. - Member SinceFebruary 18, 2014
