Legacy connection is different than the file path. A couple of questions:
- Can you confirm that, when you connected to the data, you used a UNC path?
- Did you make sure that the Tableau Server "Run As" account has read access to the UNC path?
- What error are you getting specifically?
Thanks for the quick response, Ken! In response to your questions,
1 - Yes - I followed the steps outlined here (https://kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/automatically-updating-data-in-server-workbook-that-uses-live-connection-to-excel ) to change the connection to the UNC path.
2 - I'm checking with one of our server admins
3 - Unable to connect to the file "W:/....................xlsx". Check that the file exists and that you have sufficient access privileges for it.
Based on the error, I'm guessing it's a permissions issue. Let me know when your hear back on #2
Where exactly your Excel file is located? is it on your PC or on Network drive?
Govardhan - It's on a network drive.
