I am newbie to Python, I have successfully installed Tabpy on my local system by going thru above comments. Now I want to write my own function on python to use on Tableau. Can you please let me know , where to write the function , how to deploy it and use on Tableau. Some of the links are not working original post, so just reaching out.
And also, do I need to pass aggregate value to Python script every time (like Sum (Profit) as mentioned in the posts), basically some times want to do row level calculation.
Thanks for your time !
These links should help get you going:
Though you do need to pass aggregates, you can choose the level of detail in the viz, which can be the row level.
For anyone looking to just "get started" and not get bogged down with installation instructions I've released a lightweight alternative to TabPy called AltTabPy. It's more focused on a single user use case for people who want to prototype with the functionality and can be set up in a matter of minutes. Check it out here:
Bora Beran you seem like the right person to answer a question for me please.
Basically would it be possible for someone to enter some search data (like say identification numbers) within Tableau and then this is passed to a Python script which would hit websites and pull data? Then ideally, can Tableau be used to capture this pulled data as an Excel sheet to download?
I haven't seen any extensions that necessarily fit this bill so wanted to put this question to the experts.
I hope that makes sense!
