Hi Shane - It's got to do with Order of Operations, arithmetic calculations (in any programming language) follow BODMAS/PEMDAS rule in Mathematics. So, in your calc everything enclosed in Parenthesis take precedence without those Tableau is processing the highlighted division first and multiplying the result with first two parts of your numerator,
When you enclose the whole numerator in Parenthesis, Tableau processes Numerator and Denominator separately and then divides the results.

Yes it does help. The OOO was canceling out the parameter that was allegedly not working.
