Have you installed driver that Tableau provides?
It needs to be for particular Tableau version and bitness and can be dowloaded from here: Driver Download | Tableau Software
If you do have a driver - have you tried using full machine name?
I have ensured that the correct version of the drivers are installed from the download page.
I tried to use the full path for the server and still got the same message.
Is there anything that needs to be done at the Essbase Server to enable the connection.
I found out that our Essbase server limits the connection from tools like Tableau as they use the "Add-in" protocol (TCP/IP connection directly to the Essbase agent). This is done for security reasons and have to be replaced by HTTPS provider connections using the URL
Is there a way for Tableau to use HTTP connection to connect to Essbase. If yes, how?
I'm not away of any ways to do that. Sorry!
Is there any other way to connect to the Essbase Server?
Sorry to bring up an old post. did you ever find a workaround?
This topic didn't get answered yet. I have the same question today.
How can I be sure of which protocol the Tableau Essbase connector is using (in each Tableau driver version)?
Is it ESSNET on port 1423?
Also, the Tableau Desktop driver for Essbase seems to use the 220.127.116.11 driver of Essbase. On our Essbase database the driver is 18.104.22.168.5xx
Is this fully compatible?
Is there a matrix for all of that somewhere?
