Hi Linda, that message is just a warning, which you can ignore. You said that "...it fails every time". Can you provide more information? How does it fail?
Hi Jeff, by fail I mean it appears to be preventing me from creating an extract - although it appears to be creating an extract (Processing Request) when it is finished it has not actually created an extract (and there is no date recorded underneath the Extract/Live to indicate it was completed).
It cycles through Executing Query, then Creating extract database, then Importing Data, then Executing query then finally Processing Request. I then see this
So it appears it has actually not created an extract at all.
I wonder if your workbook is depending on one of the unsupported capabilities listed in the warning.
Can you answer the following so I can know your environment:
1. What Windows operating system do you use and 64 or 32bit?
2. Do you have the latest IBM ODBC driver?
3.. What ODBC configuration do you use, 32 or 64bit?
4. What version of your tableau desktop?
Also your problem takes place in Tableaus generic installed ODBC drivers limitation.
Two of the capabilities your driver does not support (SELECT...INTO and Temporary Tables) are required in order to make extracts, this driver will only work with live connections. You'd need to contact the author of the driver to ask if these capabilities can be added, or find another driver which supports them.
Hope this helps!
