# Date Calculations in Tableau 10.2 Aggregation Issue

Hello I am trying to calculate the total entries in 2018 by the overall total entries for 2017 and 2018 and I am getting an aggregation error. I tried the sum/total and it did not work either. Can you please help? I am looking for the total number of plans by the last certified date 2018/ total overall plans in my dashboard which is dated from 2017 and 2018. I don't have an open and close date to go by I only have the last certified date which I use as the close date. I am not allowed to share our data is there another way I can explain it to you? I really need assistance. Thanks in advance.

You can just create a Dummy data set and Explain. We can help you to get out from where u got stuck.

Can you Explain the Requirement?

Are you Just Looking Yearly Integration..i.e. All 2018/Sum of 2017 and 2018. Remember, you dont have data for 2018.

The data set should include 2017 and 2018 data. I am looking to create a calculation that takes the total entries in 2018 /grand total of all entries. You should be able to pull in the Last Certified date and manipulate the views of the dates. I am showing the entire set so that you can see I need the total for 2018 (3753)/grand total (8479) in the chart. The data is there until June 2018. Are you able to open the workbook, if not I can send the excel sheet that I used.

Use These Calcs to Get Groupwise Ratio:

SUM({FIXED[Group Name] :COUNTD(IF Year([Last Certified])=2018 THEN [Plan #]END)})/SUM({FIXED [Group Name]:COUNTD([Plan #])})

or if you want for Entire Dataset, use This:

SUM({FIXED :COUNTD(IF Year([Last Certified])=2018 THEN [Plan #]END)})/SUM({FIXED :COUNTD([Plan #])})

• ###### 10. Re: Date Calculations in Tableau 10.2 Aggregation Issue

Ah ok sorry about that so I added it to the color for the chart and the percent totals didn’t change should I use the other calculation?

The Totals Wont Change it u use Entire data set Calc. Use Other Calc Calculation 3 for Groupname wise.

Hi There,

When I drill down to the quarters and months the percent totals don’t change, am I doing something wrong? It should recalculate according to the drill down correct?
