Hi Landon. This is a new one for me, and it seems like it would indicate a code problem. You mentioned that you had VizAlerts before, and now you're trying to update it? To me, it sounds like the best explanation might be that some files were or were not replaced as they should be. I might recommend just trying to install from scratch in a new folder, and make sure that if you've already got the VizAlertsConfig workbook published to your Server, that you delete it and publish up the newest version when you go through the install process for 2.1.0 again.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I will try a fresh install and let you know.

Trusted Authentication doesn't work fully in 2018.1, there is a known bug.
It will authenticate once, but any interaction after that will break with auth.
Tableau is working on a fix.

Thanks Marek, I wasn't aware of this--our trusted auth has been working just fine internally, so I'm disappointed we couldn't catch this before it went out to you all. Glad to hear that Dev is actively working on getting this fixed.
I had to revert to Server version 10.5.3 so that trusted ticketing would work.
I reinstalled VizAlerts and republished the config workbook.
I am still getting the same error. I am not sure what is going on or where to even start looking.
Ugh, that's a lot of work to not have solved your problem--sorry! Do you have a test Server to try things out with? If not, I recommend you set one up.
Let's start things off simply. Are your trusted tickets working at all? You can test them by using this page.
Another thing I'd like to see is your vizalerts.yaml config file. I'm wondering if an unexpected character is getting in there that isn't handled well in the code, and thus you get a poorly handled exception. Could you redact the sensitive parts and attach it?
I finally found some time to circle back on this, and it was a config issue. I think I had some tabs off or something. But it is working now.
