Sum YTD dollars based on parameter controlled date

I am trying to understand and create a parameter controlled visualization.  Company fiscal year starts July 1st and runs through June 30th.  I want to be able to enter a date (ex: 4/16/2018) into the parameter and have the view only return dollars up to that day/month for the various fiscal years.  I guess you could think of it as a fiscal year to date comparison.  So, using my example parameter date from earlier,

      • FY 2015: Returns data from 7/1/2014 - 4/16/2015
      • FY 2016: Returns data from 7/1/2015 - 4/16/2016
      • FY 2017: Returns dollars from 7/1/2016 - 4/16/2017
      • FY 2018:  Returns dollars from 7/1/2017 - 4/16/2018

In the attached file, I've created a worksheet called "simple bar in bar with parameter."  This is the visualization where I would like a parameter.

Any ideas on how to do this?  I'm pretty new and assume that this will require calculated fields, but am having a hard time conceptualizing how to approach this problem.

      Thank you!
