Let me know what details you are looking for?
I realize this thread is a bit old. From my understanding if using the Salesforce1 app, then sparkler is required.
Were you able to get the app to work without Sparkler?
I am also looking for knowledge about embedding Tableau Online Dashboard into Salesforce. By the Tableau Salesforce canvas connector documentation, I need to set up Sparkler. But based on what you have shared, it seems sparkler is not a must. I have set up the SAML using Salesforce as identity provider. Can I know what are the next steps? Is there any step-by-step documentation to follow?
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Yes, your understanding is correct i.e. you do not need sparkler for embedding Tableau Dashboards on Salesforce. Now that you have SAML authentication at Salesforce end you just need to configure Tableau Server with SAML authentication and most important thing is that you set up with same IDP as the one being used at Salesforce end.
You might need to enable SAML iframe setting using below command in order to use the existing session as you have already authenticated to the Idp then Tableau will authenticate transparently to the Idp and show the view without a login prompt.
tabadmin set wgserver.saml.iframed_idp.enabled
Not just above setting you need to look into clickjack setting to be turned off for ease user interface.
Thanks for your explanation on how to integrate Tableau dashboard into SFDC using IDP.
I followed the steps describe:
1) both SFDC and Tableau are setup using the same IDP in SSO
2) I got the login screen so I set the wgserver.saml.iframed_idp.enabled to true
3) now I got a blank screen so I disable the clickjack poretection but still get the blank screen...
Do I miss a step ?
Thanks for your help,
Is there resource for step-by-step instruction to integrate Tableau dashboard into SFDC using IDP? Can you share?
According to the Case opened with Tableau we still need to use Sparkler. Just that we don't need to use trusted ticket (as mention in the sparkler doc on SAML integration section).
I have not been successful. So finally, I go with the trusted ticket solution using sparkler.
I followed the default sparkler documentation, only tested in dev for now, it is working.
