Hi
Little confusion - your heading said you are trying to download a crosstab but in the body you ask about downloading a dashboard?
You can export worksheets as a cross tab to excel as shown below
but you can not export a dashboard to excel

yeah I mean when I click Worksheet -> Export -> Crosstab to Excel
it took several minutes of wait time and finally gave that error

John Sobczak Dec 7, 2017 12:01 PM (in response to Jim Dehner)Tableau server data sources can be exported crosstab to Excel. Maybe a clue is the time it took to get the message. How many rows and columns are in your worksheet (indicated in lower left of worksheet)?

Hurry Tempalli Dec 7, 2017 1:24 PM (in response to Hurry Tempalli)I have several long list of items to display, may be 9000+ rows with 15 columns
I think its taking long time and further its failed to export.
I don't have a better alternative to download the exact same data.

Peter Fakan Dec 7, 2017 1:46 PM (in response to Hurry Tempalli)Hi Hari,
Sounds like you are trying to bombard the Excel connection with too much data at once. Try dropping a smaller amount of data into Excel to ensure that the linkage works, then scale up as far as you can.
At very least, this will confirm if you have an Excel issue or not at that end.

Hurry Tempalli Dec 7, 2017 2:23 PM (in response to Peter Fakan)Thanks for the advise, I don't have excel issue, because I can download crosstab to excel with sample store data.
Somebody built a detailed report and that person left company, as I'm unaware of Tableau, I just want to investigate underlying data download.

1 of 1 people found this helpfulHi Hurry - have you tried either 'worksheet -> copy -> crosstab' then paste into excel yourself or if you're ok with just a data list rather than crosstab, the 'copy -> data'. I've sometimes found these options work better than 'export -> crosstab'.

That's great to hear Hari! Not sure exactly what's going on 'under the bonnet' to cause the differences, but glad it helped.
