This situation is by design - CLOB, NCLOB, Binary objects and database objects are unsupported data types for an Oracle data connection. The Tableau Desktop online help describes this limitation here - Home > Connect to Data > Basic Connection > Examples - Connecting to Data Sources > Oracle Database (http://onlinehelp.tableausoftware.com/v6.0/online/Output/Tableau%20Online%20Help-06-21.html
However, you can place a view over that table, and extract some (all) of the clob data:
create view view_dba_hist_sqltext as select dbid, sql_id, dbms_lob.substr(sql_text, 4000, 1) as sql_text, COMMAND_TYPE from dba_hist_sqltext;
