Stacked Bar chart to make into Waterfall chart and Combine 2 charts into 1

Hello ,

I have a stacked bar chart which I want to convert into Waterfall . Any suggestions ? Please mention the points as I want to replicate the same for other sheets too . Along with that I want to combine a stack bar chart to the waterfall chart . Overlap perhaps ? Specifically want the 2nd sheet as the base sheet and the 1st sheet which I wanted to convert into Waterfall as the overlap one. Using Tableau Version 10.4.

Hi Sajal

I am not sure what kind of water fall you want.

Could you illustrate which dimension you want to put as X-axis of water fall.

Thanks,

Shin

Hi Shinichiro-san ,

I intend to put the Time (Month - Year) in the X axis and Y axis has the Open and Close stacks in the waterfall .

Hi Sajal,

check the below image ...

As you can see I use the Gant Chart to represent water fall relation between opened and close item, at each month I used the running total (SUM(open) - SUM(Closed)) to display the starting point this to track the changes among the full period, I also use the value to size the mark to give you therelation between number of opened and closed at each point ...

and Here is the VIZ from Public you can download it ...

Best Regards

Hi sajal,

Done... see the below image...

I added the sum(Opened), sum(Closes) as measure into dual axis with the waterfall view ...

Important point I update the calculated field of water fall to be

[Water Fall]

WINDOW_SUM(SUM([Opened]) - SUM ([Closed]), FIRST(), -1)

This to calculate the running sum without including the current row (This is more accurate)

here is the updated VIZ you can download it

Note:

If you find this useful please mark it as correct answer, or helpful post ...

Hi Haitham ,

I meant to say the Priority stacked sheet I have and the waterfall you created I want to combine those two . I see in the above answer you combined both the open/close stack and open/close waterfall . I created a sheet in which I have priority R ,A,B,C as stack columns and the waterfall you created in another sheet . Now I want to combine the Priority sheet and the Waterfall sheet . Both have the same time measure as dimensions(Year or Months) . For clarity , I have a image of what I exactly want .

The red and blue stack waterfall (?) are the opened and closed. The Other stack columns of green , yellow etc are the Priority stacks.

Is this possible ? Excel we can create like this . Making in Tableau seems quite challenging .

Hi Sajal

we can have it like this

and we can also use reversed axis like this:

And you can also synchronize the axis although the priority sum values has small values in comparison to other axis:

any way here is also the updated VIZ.
