Thank You Yuri!
This approach worked!
Will check and let you know if this solution impacts other calculations & performance, if any
Please let me know if we can implement this from single data source.(since i am already using another 2 data sources for this dashboard).
I don't think it would work on a single datasource.
You could set the Cross-Datasource Filter to work
for some worksheets on a dash, but not for the others.
Besides, the old-school approach to the same problem
was by using a Data Blend. But one of your sample calcs
is including COUNTD() -- and this renders Blending useless.
It was impacting the performance of the dashboard because of more volume of data, more no of dashboards and having other data sources etc.
Just wanted to check if I keep a Flag to differentiate Quarterly & Half yearly data based on data.
Along with other filters, I am going to display 2 fields i.e Flag: QTR/Half. Based on selection, I should show relevant values for that selection.
QTR: 2017 Q1, 2017, Q2, 2017 Q3, 2017 Q4 has to displayed
HALF: 2017 H2, 2017 H1 etc.
I think with this approach we can avoid using same DS twice to calc Previous period data. Pls correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Attached the workbook..it would be great if you could help me on the new approach.

Do I have any updates on this approach..please!
Sorry for late reply.
I've tried to simplify matters a bit
and came to yet another approach --
this one is using UNIONed datasource
(the two copies of the datasource table).
With this approach one could be able to have
any number of periods on a single view.
Please find the attached with mods
(on Sheet 7 view) as an example.
Hope it could help a bit.
If it would work, and it would be necessary
to tackle the performance problems (if any),
PS Your [Flag] field helps (as a Context filter),
though it could be calculated right in Tableau like this:

Thank You for this approach!
I just wanted to check is there any work around to implement the logic without having Union on the same table(duplicates) or using same DS twice.
Can you help me out in implementing the logic in a single DS or any data model changes to make it better in terms of performance.
Note: I need a filter which will pass in all the sheets(Relative Data Source filter)
No other workaround that i'm aware of.
Thank you so much Yuri!
Let's see if any one has any other work around in addressing this issue.
