You can't use a relative date filter as the screenshot below?
If not, please find the below link for my latest reply on the comment.
Hope this helped you.
Thanks for replying Mia.
My requirement is not to go with Relative date. I want the values to be displayed as it is.. i.e. 2017 Q1, 2017 Q2, 2017 Q3 and so on...
I have gone through the link, Current Date, user will not know what is current date. Lets say there was a delay of 2 months in data. when selects current date which means that data is available till date which gives wrong interpretation to the users.
Any other solution would be helpful..
That makes sense Mia.
I would like to go with Discrete dim. Can you please help me out with Quarter logic.
Assuming that we cannot show all the values from a single drop down. but can address the same issue as a work around.
I will be helpful if you could address the below issues. Thanks a ton!
From Drop down when
1. Latest Quarter is selected:
a) null value should be removed
b) Display 2018 Q1 instead of exclude(strikeout)
2. Quarter Filter is selected:
a) I should show all Q's except Latest Q(since we show them in Latest Q filter)
b) Instead of Exclude(Strike out), I should show them the values from Date Filters.
That will be even easier.
If you set "Latest Quarter/Quarter Filter" as "Latest Quarter" it'll only show the lastest quarter like below,
If you set "Latest Quarter/Quarter Filter" as "Latest Quarter" it'll only show the quarter filter like below, excluding the latest quarter.
a couple of things to make this work -
1. Set your filter to only show relevant values
2. create a new calc field called filter by parameter as below and apply "True" for the workbook.
CASE [Latest Quarter/Quarter Filter] when 'Latest Quarter' then [Max_Quarter T/F]=true
ELSE [Max_Quarter T/F]=false
3. [Max_Quarter T/F] was written as below,
Please find the attached workbook and mark the answer correct to close the thread.
Thank You Mia!
Did it work?
Yes, it worked as an alternative.
It will be great if we have a solution to show all values in the same drop down?
The solution above fits exactly to your requirement. But of course, showing all values in the same dropdown is also doable
Oh.. that's awesome news Mia!
Can you please help me out with logic..
Rephrasing my requirement:
Quick filter "Time Period" which has : 2017-Q3, 2017-Q2, 2017-Q1, 2016-Q4, 2016-Q3, 2016-Q2 and so on..
As the data comes in extract for 2017-Q4. When i open the dashboard, i have to see the data for 2017-Q4 and selected by default in the drop down.(currently it is 2017-Q3) and so on for upcoming Q's data.
I want the same functionality as that of the below filter option, but it didn't work because of bug.
